The red wine Montefalco Rosso Riserva DOC is based on the same grape composition as the lesser-aged type, Montefalco Rosso DOC. Thus, the grapes are Sangiovese (60-70%), a little bit of Sagrantino (10-15%) along with other local, red grapes (15-30%).
The wine presents a red to garnet color and has a vinous and delicate aroma, with an aromatic taste and ample body. As is the case with its little brother, versions with a healthy amount of Sagrantino are especially interesting and full-bodied.
Montefalco Rosso Riserva must have a 12.5% alcohol concentration and has a mandatory aging period of 30 months, 12 of which are in the barrel.
The shelf life is 5-7 years and the wine can be enjoyed with a nice roast or red meat.
