When Cerasuolo di Vittoria was promoted to DOCG in 2005, an independent DOC was also established in the same geographical region in the southeastern part of Sicily.
The zone is called Vittoria DOC, and the production includes mono-varietals from the grapes Nero d’Avola (also called Calabrese), Inzolia and Frappato. Blended wines are also produced using these grapes, and there are 5 types in this DOC, including a Novello.
