Biferno Rosso Superiore is produced from the same grapes as the base wine, Biferno Rosso. They are the Montepulciano (70-80%) and Aglianico (15-20%) grapes, with permission to use additional, local, non-aromatic red grapes (0-15%).
The wine is a more or less intense ruby red, which becomes more garnet red with age. It has an interesting and characteristic aroma, which after some years becomes more ethereal. The taste is dry, harmonious and smooth, with a, at times, slightly tannic aftertaste.
There is also an aged Riserva.
Goes well with most everything on the table.
