This aged red wine is produced from the same grapes as the unaged Biferno Rosso, which is synonymous with the Montepulciano (70-80%) and Aglianico (15-20%) grapes, with permission to add local, non-aromatic red grapes (0-15%).
This is an intense ruby red wine with garnet red reflections. It has an interesting and characteristic ethereal aroma. The taste is dry, harmonious and smooth, with a slightly tannic aftertaste.
Biferno Rosso Riserva must age a minimum of 3 years, calculated from November 1 of the harvest year.
Goes well with roasted dishes.
There is also a Biferno Rosso Superiore with a higher alcohol concentration.
That Italy in 2011 was the worlds largest wine producer?
