Etna DOC

With their volcanic soil, kindly laid by the volcano Etna, these vineyards, that lie in heights between 1300 and 5000 feet above sea level, have the best conditions for wine production.

Yet for many years it had been difficult for the wine producers on Etna's slopes to live up to the potential the region had given them. However, within recent years some producers have focused on making better use of the potential, and Etna DOC is powerfully marching forward.

The underground volcanic minerals emerge in the zone's wine and, interestingly enough, there is a tremendous aromatic variation depending upon the cultivation location.

Rosso, Bianco and Rosato are cultivated, yet the latter isn't anything special yet. The grapes are primarily the white Carricante and Catarratto, together with the red Nerello varieties.

Etna's huge potential has attracted a number of large producers in recent years, so we will no doubt begin to experience an interesting development of the zone's great prospects.
