A French expression on Italian bottles. It means "dry" when it refers to a Spumante. The term also indicates the residual sugar content, which must be less than 15 grams per liter. If the label says "Extra Brut" it goes without saying that the wine is a bit drier and therefore contains only 0-6 grams of residual sugar per liter.
